Landing page for LinkedIn Learning

By Jerry Boccia, Ives Squared Library Aide

Among the many e-resources NHFPL provides, there is one that stands out from the rest!

LinkedIn Learning is an online collection of learning materials and courses. It focuses on broadening user’s skillsets and knowledge-base relating to business, art, and technology. In a similar style to YouTube, LinkedIn Learning has an assortment of creators that share their professional experience and expertise through video tutorials. The length of these tutorials varies from subject to subject, but on average run for 30 to 60 minutes. LinkedIn Learning organizes its materials into 4 categories: Business, Creative, Technology, and Certifications. Each category has many sub-topics and is geared towards a wide range of skill levels. Whether you’re new to a topic or already have experience with it, LinkedIn Learning has content to meet your needs!

Why use LinkedIn Learning?

LinkedIn Learning is a great way to learn new skills or earn certifications that can give you a competitive edge in the job market. Even if you just want a refresher on a certain topic, their videos are great for quick reference as needed. Experienced professionals are accompanied with visual graphics and aides that help explain their specific topics in greater detail. Another benefit to using LinkedIn’s resources is that their learning materials are based on job market and employer needs. These materials focus heavily on job training and can become useful refreshers in a work environment. Courses you have taken and certifications you earned can even be connected to your LinkedIn profile for colleagues and potential employers to see!

How to access LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning is available to all NHFPL card holders! You can access it by selecting the green “E-Books and E-Resources” box on the NHFPL homepage. Under the Business and Nonprofit section, you will find a link to LinkedIn Learning. Once there, select “get started” and follow the prompts to login (remember your pin is the last 4 digits of your card number). NHFPL card holders can also access this resource from home. Unfortunately, LinkedIn Learning is only available to New Haven residents at this time. If you need a library card, you can call or visit your local branch!
