All New Haven Free Public Library locations will be closed on Saturday, October 12 and Monday, October 14 in observance of Italian Heritage Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day. All locations will reopen for their normal hours on Tuesday, October 15.

NHFPL has partnered with Liberty Community Services to make Social Workers available for assistance with a variety of concerns, including:

  • housing
  • apartment searches and applications
  • job searches and applications
  • food pantries
  • detox
  • recovery houses
  • mental health services
  • counseling

At Ives Main Library: If you’d like to meet with a Social Worker, please call Amber at (203) 946-8130 x309 or (475) 331-4278 or stop in to the Liberty Office on the Lower Level at Ives Main Library from Monday-Friday between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm.

At Branches: A social worker also visits the Fair Haven and Wilson branches. Please contact your local branch directly for more information and other local services available.
