Summer Learning 2025
Participate in our ALL-AGES annual summer learning program from
May 31st through August 23rd!
This years theme is Level Up At Your Library!
Read and attend exciting library programs and community events all summer long! Participants can track their reading in the Children’s Summer Learning booklet. The goal is to read 1200 minutes this summer. When you complete the game board within the booklet, you earn a certificate and a FREE book! Upon completing the challenge, you can enter for a chance to win a private tour of the Yale Peabody Museum (You may bring 1 caregiver adult with you)!
Read and attend exciting library programs and community events all summer long! Participants can track their reading in the Teen Summer Learning booklet. The goal is to read 1200 minutes this summer. Read for 1200 minutes to earn a $15 gift card to Atticus Bookstore Cafe. Complete a book review on the back cover of the booklet to earn a $5 gift card to Ashley’s Ice Cream. Upon completing the challenge, you can enter for a chance to win a private tour of the Yale Peabody Museum (You may bring 1 caregiver adult with you)!
Read and attend exciting library programs and community events all summer long! Participants can play our Readopoly board game in the Adult Summer Learning booklet. Use your tickets to enter raffle drawings for one or more of our three prizes: 1 month membership to Elm City Games, 1 month membership to MakeHaven, or a guided tour of Lost in New Haven. (Limit to one winner per raffle)

Children’s Room
Enjoy crafts, building activities, and video games with Matt Yanarella from MY Productions CT, face painting with Jordyn, an author visit from Dr. Tiffani Bell Washington, and indoor mini golf. Sign up for our summer learning challenge to pick up your reading log. Open to kids, teens, and their families and caregivers.

Community Program Room
Join our 80s throwback game room! There will be 80s music and retro video game consoles from Nintendo, Atari and Intellivision. We will also have an arcade cabinet with Pac-Man, Dig Dug, and Galaga. Sign up for our Summer Learning Challenge for your chance to win a prize from Elm City Games, Make Haven, or Lost in New Haven!

Mitchell Branch and Beecher Park
Join us to kick off our library summer learning program! We’ll have our annual ladybug release and a special visit from Country Quilt Llama Farms. Come meet a llama, play lawn games, enjoy a popsicle & bubbles, and make a special craft led by the Yale Center for British Arts.

All hands on deck! Celebrate the end of the school year and beginning of summer reading with Xen’s Critters farm animal petting zoo! Xen’s Critters will be on the lawn next to Wilson Library. In case of rain, they will be in the Atrium.

Level Up this Summer by joining our learning challenge. All ages can participate. Sign-up and get your reading log. Riverside Reptiles will join us again to explore the wonderful world of reptiles and amphibians. You may have a chance to pet a lizard, stare into the eyes of a large frog, or get close to a giant python.
