We’re excited to announce the opening of the New Haven Memory Lab at the Ives Main Library! This free, do-it-yourself digitization station gives community members the tools to preserve personal, family, and organizational archives—from photo albums and scrapbooks to printed documents, books, and pamphlets.

Join us for two special events to celebrate this new resource:

📅 Launch Event: Wednesday, July 9 at 1 pm
Ives Main Library, Tinker Lab
Celebrate with us as we officially open the Memory Lab, with remarks from Mayor Justin Elicker, City Historian Michael Morand, and City Librarian Maria Bernhey, followed by live demonstrations and light refreshments.

📅 Archival Workshop: Monday, July 15 at 5:30 pm

Learn practical tips for preserving your own materials during this hands-on program led by library staff.

Soon you’ll be able to borrow equipment and preserve your memories at home!

The Memory Lab is part of the New Haven Community Archives Support program in partnership with Yale’s Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. This initiative also supports New Haven’s America 250 commemorations, helping residents safeguard the stories that shape our shared history.
