The New Haven Free Public Library will have a delayed opening at noon on Thursday, April 25, 2024 for staff development.

Did you know that NHFPL offers passport services at the Ives Main Library? It’s true! Our passport office opened earlier this year and offers an array of services including new passports, passport renewals, and passport photos. You’ll find a full listing of the passport offerings and fees at the bottom of our Passport Services page. Passport fees are set by the US State Department and are the same at all passport facilities.

Our passport office is conveniently located on the first floor of the Ives Main Library, just behind the Information Desk. Enter from the front of the building on Elm Street and walk straight back towards the stained glass window. The passport office will be on your left, clearly labeled with signs on its windows and a US flag on the door.

Passport hours vary by day, so make sure you have an appointment before you come in as this service is currently open by appointment only.

The Passport Office hours are currently:

Saturdays: 11-3:30 pm

Final appointments for each day are made 30 minutes prior to the closing of the Passport Office. Please visit travel.state.gov if you’ve already made an appointment and would like to download forms.

All forms should be completed ahead of time when possible. If needed, please request paper forms when making your appointment. All applicants must appear in person, including children.

Please note that adults with a ten-year passport must renew by mail using form DS-82, but assistance can be provided. If you were 15 or younger when your most recent passport was issued, you must come in to renew your passport in person.
