Adult Summer Learning Challenge

This year’s Summer Learning Challenge theme is Level Up At Your Library!

The Library has tons of resources for your to level up your knowledge and skills OR your favorite sports and games. “Puzzled” about what we have to offer? Ask a staff member and we’ll be happy to help!

How to participate:

• Grab a summer reading booklet for your nearest location.
• Track your progress on the READOPOLY board in the booklet in exchange for raffle tickets. (You don’t have to go in order!)
  • Earn one (1) ticket each time you complete all four (4) sport in a single color category.
  • Earn one (1) ticket after visiting all five (5) Library locations.
  • Earn one (1) ticket after completing the entire gameboard.
• Turn in your READOPOLY board at any location by Saturday, August 23. We will tally the number of tickets you’ve earned.
• Use your tickets to enter raffle drawings for one (1) or more of our three (3) prizes:
  • One (1) month membership to Elm City Games
  • One (1) month membership to MakeHaven
  • Guided tour of Lost in New Haven

All participants who participate will be eligible for a FREE book and will be entered in the Grand Prize drawing for one of three grand prizes from local businesses.

A superhero named Black Panther defends Wakanda, a technologically advanced country in Africa that has hidden itself away from the rest of the world. He must face a dissident who wants to sell the country’s natural resources to fund an uprising.

Join the club for a discussion of The Demon of Unrest by Erik Larson. Larson’s book studies the 5 months from Abraham Lincoln’s election as President to the outbreak of the Civil War with a focus on Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor as a key flashpoint. The Thank You Card Project | Mitchell Branch

Monday, June 9, 5:30-7:30 pm

Please join us to create handmade thank you cards which we will then mail to people who are helping us get through these times. It could be a card to one of our senators, your favorite author, or to a favorite teacher, or friend. There’s no artistic or technical skill needed, and materials are provided.
