Machine Trainings and Certification
The Tinker Lab offers a variety of machines and equipment to create your projects. Some machines require a certification to use independently, while others are available to members of the public comfortable using them.
Training Required
Certification is required to use our laser cutter, 3D printers, and CNC routing machine.
Watch our training videos below, then schedule a time to come in for your training and certification test here!
Laser Cutter - COMING SOON!
A laser cutter is a machine that uses a high-powered, focused laser beam to precisely cut, engrave, or mark materials like wood, acrylic, fabric, and metal.

Laser Cutter Basics (Level 1): Training Video Coming Soon
Laser Cutter Rotary Attachment (Level 2): Training Video Coming Soon
*Note: You must be fully certified with the laser cutter before you may take the rotary attachment class or certification test.
Our xTool P3 laser cutter features a powerful 80W CO₂ laser and a large working area with a maximum speed and acceleration of 1200mm/s. The P3 fundamentally changes 3D object engraving with a built-in, motorized AutoLift Base and camera lenses that allow the machine to automatically measure your material and print exactly where you'd like on the project without extra time spent measuring and aligning.
The P3 has a certified Class 1 laser safety rating, integrating an Upgraded High-Precision Perception System, which combines 8 Infrared (IR) sensors, a temperature sensor, and side cameras with an advanced vision algorithm. Furthermore, the P3 comes standard with a built-in CO₂ active fire suppression system, ensuring safe use for our Tinker Lab users.
3D Printers
A 3D printer is a machine that builds solid, three-dimensional objects from digital 3D models by adding material layer by layer.

The Elegoo Neptune 4 is designed for makers who want to create quickly and experiment with different projects. With high-speed printing capabilities and automatic bed leveling, it offers a flexible, hands-on experience that’s great for learning and trying new ideas.
The Prusa MK4 is easy to use even for complete beginners, yet its reliable performance also makes it a perfect fit for professional workshops. The Prusa delivers smooth, detailed 3D prints. With automatic calibration and finely tuned print settings, it delivers dependable, professional-quality prints with minimal setup or troubleshooting, making it ideal for beginners and advanced users alike.
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Router
A CNC router is a machine that uses a computer to cut and shape materials like wood, plastic, aluminum, and foam. It can carve and engrave designs automatically with a high level of accuracy.

Carvey CNC: Training Video
The Carvey uses various sized drill bits to carve 3D designs into wood and plastic. With a work area of 12” X 8” and the beginner-friendly Easel software, the Carvey is the perfect machine for those interested in using CNC for the first time.
Additional Equipment
The Tinker Lab also features equipment and machines that do not require a training certification for independent use. If you need assistance learning how to use these machines, please register for a training. If you need a refresher, we also offer project assistance.
