JUNE 12-SEPTEMBER 3

How to Register | How to Earn Points | Prizes and Eligibility

Welcome to our community summer learning program! This summer, NHFPL is offering a community wide challenge: How many of you can meet a goal of 20-points over the course of the summer? Whether you are participating for fun or participating for school, we are here to help you do it! Team up or do it on your own – however you choose to participate, the library makes it easy for you to grab the books you want and participate in community activities! Read on for all the details you need to get started.

HOW TO REGISTER

Choose a Team of one (1) to six (6) people. Your team can be made up of any combination of children, teens, and adults. In order to qualify for our prize drawings, each team member must reach a minimum of 20 points. At least one team member MUST have an active NHFPL library card. Everyone who lives in New Haven or attends ANY school in New Haven is eligible for a free library card. Need a card? We can help with that!

Once you have your team chosen, register online using the forms below. Parents, caregivers, and/or guardians should fill out the registration and tracking forms for all children under the age of 13

As a bonus, the first 275 NHPS students to register will win a special prize from New Haven Public Schools!

Call the library at 203-946-8129 or email us at youngminds@nhfpl.org to register your team

HOW TO EARN POINTS

In order to qualify to enter the drawing, EACH team member must earn a total of 20 points. Whether you are participating for fun, or are asked to participate for school, your participation counts!

Participants can earn points in 3 ways:

Read (a book, graphic novel, e-book, or listen to an audio book)

Write (a book review, poetry, short story, etc.)

Do (an activity: attend/view a library program, visit a park or museum, do activities at home, etc.)

Each activity is worth one point for that participant. Activities completed as a group count for each member who participated.

If you are looking for reading suggestions, check out the Governor’s Reading Challenge, our Kids Suggested Reading Lists, our Teen Suggested Reading Lists, or ask one of our awesome librarians!

For a list of this month’s library sponsored programs see our events calendar. We also have a printable option.

Don’t forget, your school summer reading counts!

Keep track of your participation in one of two ways:

Track online, using the buttons below. Parents, caregivers, and/or guardians should fill out the registration and tracking forms for all children under the age of 13.

OR

Using any paper of your choice. See an example below:

Keep tracking until each participant reaches the 20 point goal!
