Welcome to our newest reading program! This winter, NHFPL is offering a challenge: How many of you can meet a Winter Reading goal of one book, per person, for the next 3 months? We know you can, and we’re here to help you do it-the library makes it easy for you to grab the books you want right at our door! Read on for all the details you need to get started.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
It’s simple! Form a team with your family (or some friends). Each team can have up to six (6) members. Teams may be adults, teens, children, or any combination of adults, teens, or children. PLEASE NOTE: At least one (1) member of each team MUST have a New Haven Free Public Library card for the team to be eligible to be entered for the drawing. Then, READ!
Keep Track of your reading in one of two ways:
On paper, using the printable options below (or any paper of your choice)
Register and track online, using the buttons below. Parents, caregivers, and/or guardians should fill out the registration and tracking forms for all children under the age of 13.
HOW TO EARN POINTS
In order to qualify to enter the drawing, Each team must meet its goal. What’s your goal, you ask? Each team’s book goal = number of team members X 3. Use the chart below to help:
- 1 participant-3 books total
- 2 participants-6 books total
- 3 participants-9 books total
- 4 participant-12 books total
- 5 participants-15 books total
- 6 participants-18 books total
“Books” can be printed books you hold in your hands, books you read online, or audiobooks you listen to. Graphic Novels count, too!
HINT: This goal is set to equal approximately one (1) book per month per team member, but you may break up the reading in the way that best works for your team. Each team member should read at least one (1) book, though!
PRIZES, ELIGIBILITY AND LIMITS
Eligible entries will be collected and entered into a drawing for $50 gift certificates that will be awarded to the TEAM to be shared among members. Number of prizes to be awarded and chances of winning will be determined by the total number of eligible entries received by the deadline (March 20, 2021).
At least one (1) member of each team submitting an entry MUST have a New Haven Free Public Library card. Teams lacking a card issued by the New Haven Free Public Library will be disqualified. Need a card? We can help with that! Only one entry per team will be accepted. Drawing will occur the week of March 21-27 and team(s) selected during the drawing will win a single gift certificate to be shared by the team members. The number of prizes to be awarded and chances of winning will be determined by the total number of eligible entries received by the deadline (March 20, 2021).
