If the NHFPL catalog does not include the book or periodical you are looking for, we may be able to obtain it for you from another library via Interlibrary Loan (ILL). NHFPL card holders may make one ILL request per month. Average wait time is four to six weeks. AV materials (dvds, audiobooks) are not eligible for ILL request. Reference books and new books are usually not available through ILL.
However, due to technical changes at the Connecticut State Library based on budgetary limitations, the New Haven Free Public Library will suspend Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services through the statewide ReQuest network beginning July 1′* until a new system is put in place by the State Library. A newer, less expensive statewide catalog will be provided by the State Library in the coming months. Until then. New Haven residents may continue to request items but may only have one item in process and on loan at any time. Processing times are likely to be longer than in the past. We will provide updates as we receive them.
Requests may be placed at Ives Main Library or any of the branches, or online through ReQuest, the statewide catalog. Your ILL materials may be picked up and returned to any NHFPL branch.
The lending conditions, including the loan period, are set by the lending library. There are no renewals for ILL materials.
If you have any questions about our ILL service or would like to know the status of your ILL request, please contact us at email@example.com or call 203-946-8130 at ext 114 or ext 116
