A Child’s Christmas in Wales | Mon., Dec. 7th | Ives Main | 6:00-7:00
A special holiday treat! A dramatic reading with actor Colin Lane and musician Becca Zaretzky, who performed at the library two years ago to a standing-room-only crowd.
Originally written for radio, Dylan Thomas’ poem is told from the viewpoint of a young child and celebrates Christmases past, portraying a nostalgic and simpler time.

Make and decorate unique holiday ornaments and gifts using origami! Star with a simple star, or try your hand at a more complex geometric shape. Ages 7 and up.

Bring Peace to Earth | Sat., Dec. 12th | Ives Main | 2:00-3:00
Learn about people trying to make a difference in the world. We’ll video conference with 10 year-old William Scannell about his efforts to bring love and comfort to refugee children all over the world through his Any Refugee program. Then we’ll make postcards for his organization to send out. We’ll also learn about how Wangari Maathai planted peace in Kenya and make tasty chocolate pretzel trees in her honor.
